| Jack is serving his third term
as the member of the Legislative Assembly representing Peace
River South, located in rural northeastern British Columbia,
and is the longest sitting member on the opposition benches
in the Legislative Assembly.
First elected to the Legislature in 1986, Jack served in
government as the Minister of State for the Northeast and
Nechako, Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources,
and British Columbia's first Minister of Native Affairs. Re-elected
in 1991, Jack was then elected Leader of the Third Party,
and now sits as an Independent MLA.
Born in Alberta, Jack attended Edmonton's Northern Alberta
Institute of Technology. Employed as an Imperial Oil auditor
from 1962 to 1964, he later worked for General Motors and
operated an automobile dealership until 1981.
Community service and appointments included: Dawson Creek
Rotary Club President, Dawson Creek and District Fall Fair
Director and Chairman, and Regional Economic Development Commissioner.
Jack enjoys many outdoor activities, including hiking, downhill
skiing, fishing, hunting and canoeing, and is an avid reader.
He and his wife, Judy, have two grown daughters, Joanne and
Pamela. |
