Welcome to my blog!

My name is Ralph Sultan, and I chair the Health Committee of the BC Legislative Assembly. We are ten MLAs from both parties looking into the problem of childhood obesity. We have until the end of November to make recommendations about ways to change behaviours to get children and youth to eat healthier, improve their health and increase their physical fitness.

We’ve already heard from dozens of expert witnesses about how to make kids healthier. But we believe that BC kids are smart, capable, and have their own opinions and ideas about what will work. So now we want to hear from you. Through this blog you can make informal comments about some of the issues and ideas our Committee has heard about from the experts, or contribute ideas of your own.

I also hope you’ll take the time to complete the slightly-more formal survey on this website. Our Committee has to follow certain parliamentary procedures, so in order for your opinions to be considered a formal submission to the Committee – and to be listed in our final report as a contributor – we need you to supply full contact information as requested in the survey. And if you’re under 18, you need to ask your parents permission too. Hopefully you’ll add your voice and give us your ideas on how to make BC kids more healthy and active.

I think it is good to eat healthy and exercise. If you try not to eat too much junk food you might lose a couple of pounds!

gets pumped through your body, your heart rate increases, and energy gets stored in your magor organs. One type of energy is fat, so when energy gets stored in your stomuck you get fatter.Stress also affects the nuruons in your brian ,or brain cells. That can result in memory loss.Stress can also effect your immune system, and many other things. So,take my advice, don't get stresseD!!!!

I think that the video is realy funny. You should eat lots of fruits and vegitibles, and exersise daily.Don't eat to much sweets and fatty foods because it affects your health and increases your risk of diabetes.Don't stress yourself out either, its bad for your body. When you're stressed out, your body reacts as if facing an enemy. You have two choises,to run or to fight[thats why when you are angry it feels good to beat a pillow].
As a reaction body pumps out adreneline [continued on section two.]

The food at my school is fine and there are many healthy choices to choose from. Taking unhealthy food away from the cafeteria is not the way to stop kids from eating bad food. A good way to teach nutrition is to watch educational movies such as Supersize Me. It effected me the most during my nutrition unit as opposed to reading nutrition labels all class.
