Child health registry?
The BC Medical Association spoke to our Committee in April and suggested that the government create a child health registry to track student physical fitness and health levels across the province. The registry would collect some health information (height, weight, waist-to-hip ratio) twice a year from all children in kindergarten to grade 12.

They said this project would allow researchers to track the effectiveness of specific programs and compare health outcomes to other socio-economic statistical databases – things like cross-referencing how active kids are in organized sports with what region they live in or how wealthy their families are.

Parents would have to agree to let their kids’ information be added to the registry, and that info would be anonymous. What do you think of this idea?
