Each fall, the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services holds province-wide public consultations on the next provincial budget. Pursuant to Section 2 of the Budget Transparency and Accountability Act [SBC 2000] Chapter 23, the consultations begin in September with the release of the Budget Consultation Paper by the Minister of Finance.
In addition to conducting annual province-wide budget consultations, the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services is also empowered to consider and to make recommendations on the annual reports, rolling three-year service plans and budgets of BC's eight statutory officers.
