Bonnie was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1996. She is currently on the Select Standing Committee for Women's Equality, Health and Social Services. She has served on the Select Standing Committee for Women's Equality, Health and Social Services.

She was a founding member and president of the Cloverdale Skating Club, secretary of local parent group, Commissioner - Canadian Census, and was a small business owner.

Bonnie has served as a Surrey City councillor, director for the Cloverdale Rodeo and Exhibition Association, and president and vice-president of the Cloverdale Board of Trade.
