The Honourable John Rustad was re-elected to represent the riding of Nechako Lakes on May 14, 2013, and was appointed Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation on June 7, 2013.
He serves on the Cabinet Committee on Strong Economy and Environment and the Land Use Committee.
First elected in 2005, Minister Rustad served previously as Parliamentary Secretary for Forestry as well as on a variety of committees.
Minister Rustad worked in the forest industry for more than 20 years. In 1995, he formed Western Geographic Information Systems Inc., a consulting service to the forest industry. Minister Rustad was also elected as a school trustee in 2002, where he worked on a variety of innovative projects.
Born and raised in Prince George, Minister Rustad has lived all of his life in northern B.C. He grew up enjoying fishing and hunting. In 2009, he and his wife Kim moved to Cluculz Lake, where they experience the peace and beauty of rural living.
