Treasures from the Legislative Library Vault

Take a closer look at the fragile, unique, and valuable items stored in the Legislative Library vault.

  • Time:  2:00 pm
  • Length:  60 minutes
  • Cost: Free

You can join this program in-person at the Legislative Assembly, or online via Zoom. 

March 15: The Bard and Parliament

Discover the unlikely connections between William Shakespeare and the BC Legislature and see the Legislative Library's rare Second Folio of Shakespeare's plays.

April 12: The BC Legislature and the Crown

Just in time for the Coronation, learn about the role of the Crown in B.C.’s parliamentary system, and discover a treasure trove of royal resources.

June 14: Maces Past and Present

From the Middle Ages to today, get a closer look at these opulent symbols of parliamentary authority.

  • Attendance for the in-person session is limited to 25 people. 

  • Visitors should arrive ten minutes early to pass through security screening. 

  • If you can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible so other groups may be booked.

  • Online sessions are offered via Zoom. Registered participants will receive an invitation to the session with the necessary meeting link.

Tea & Tour at the Parliament Buildings

Join us for morning tea in the Parliamentary Dining Room followed by a guided tour with a costumed member of the Parliamentary Players Program. Explore the significance of the Legislative Assembly of BC and engage directly with a historical character from British Columbia's past.
