Election of Chair and Deputy Chair

S. Sourial (Clerk Assistant, Committees and Interparliamentary Relations): Good morning, committee members, and welcome to the first meeting of the Special Committee to Review the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

As this is our first meeting, our first item of business is to elect a Chair. Do I have any nominations?

J. Routledge: I would like to nominate Rick Glumac as the Chair of this committee.

S. Sourial (Clerk Assistant, Committees and Interparliamentary Relations): Rick has been nominated.

Rick, do you accept the nomination?

R. Glumac: I do.

S. Sourial (Clerk Assistant, Committees and Interparliamentary Relations): Are there any other nominations? Any other nominations?

Seeing none, Rick, you're acclaimed Chair of the committee.

[R. Glumac in the chair.]

R. Glumac (Chair): Thank you.

Now I will call for nominations for Deputy Chair. Are there any nominations?

T. Shypitka: I'd like to nominate John Rustad for Deputy Chair.

R. Glumac (Chair): John, do you accept?

J. Rustad: Yes.

R. Glumac (Chair): Excellent.

I'll do a further call for nominations. Are there any further nominations? Going once, further nominations a second time. Call for further nominations a third and final time.

Seeing none, MLA Rustad, you are elected Deputy Chair of the committee.

That is essentially our business for today, to elect Chair and Deputy Chair. We will reconvene at some point, likely in the fall, and we will go over our terms of reference at that point.

I look forward to working with all of you.

I guess I have to ask for a motion to adjourn, unless there's anything else.

Moved, and seconded by MLA Shypitka.

Motion approved.

R. Glumac (Chair): This meeting is now adjourned.

The committee adjourned at 10:40 a.m.
