Order called for "Oral Questions by Members."

The Hon. G. Clark (Minister of Finance and Corporate Relations) presented the Public Accounts of British Columbia for the fiscal year ended March 31, 1991.

By leave, the Hon. G. Clark (Minister of Finance and Corporate Relations) moved --
That the Public Accounts for the fiscal year ended March 31, 1991, be referred to the Select Standing Committee on Public Accounts.

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

Pursuant to Order, the House resumed the adjourned debate on the amendment to the Address in Reply to the Speech of His Honour the Lieutenant Governor at the opening of the Session.

The debate on the amendment continued.

The House divided.

The amendment was negatived on the following division:

Be it resolved that the Government of British Columbia encourages the Federal Government to amend the Tax Act so that maintenance payments are not considered income for taxation purposes.
