The Hon. E. Cull (Minister of Health and Minister Responsible for Seniors) tabled the Financial Statements of the British Columbia Medical Services Commission for the fiscal year ended March 31, 1992.

The Hon. C. Gabelmann (Attorney General) tabled the Annual Report of the Ministry of the Attorney General, 1991-1992.

The Hon. J. Sawicki (Speaker) tabled the Official Report and Recommendations 1992 Review of MLA Remuneration of The British Columbia Legislative Assembly by C. J. Connaghan.

Mr. Gingell presented the Second Report of the Select Standing Committee on Public Accounts for the First Session of the Thirty-Fifth Parliament.

Resolved, That the Report be taken as read and received.

By leave of the House, the Rules were suspended and the Report adopted.

By leave, Mr. Barnes tabled documents from the group End Legislated Poverty.

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

On the motion for third reading of Bill (No. 84) intituled Labour Relations Code, Mr. Farrell-Collins moved the following amendment:

That the motion for third reading of Bill 84, the Labour Relations Code, be amended by deleting the word "now" and adding the words "on this day six months hence".

A debate arose.

On the motion that the debate on the amendment be adjourned until later today, the House divided.

The House resumed the adjourned debate on the amendment to the motion for third reading of Bill (No. 84) intituled Labour Relations Code.

The debate on the amendment continued.

Bill (No. 84) read a third time and passed.

68   The Hon. C. Gabelmann moved--
That a Special Committee be appointed to select and unanimously recommend to the Legislative Assembly, the appointment of an Information and Privacy Commissioner, pursuant to Section 37 (1) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and that the Special Committee so appointed shall have the powers of a Select Standing Committee and is also empowered:

(a) to appoint of their number, one or more subcommittees and to refer to such subcommittees any of the matters referred to the Committee;

(b) to sit

(i) (b) to sit (i) during any period in which the House is adjourned, during the recess after prorogation until the next following Session and during any sitting of the House, and

(ii) to adjourn from place to place as may be convenient;

(iii) to retain such personnel as required to assist the Committee; and

(c) to release any reports during a period when the Legislative Assembly and, upon the resumption of the sittings of the House, the Chairperson of the Committee shall present all reports to the Legislative Assembly; and shall report to the House on the matter referred to it as soon as possible, or following any adjournment of the House, or at the next following Session, as the case may be.

The said Special Committee to be composed of Mr. B. Jones (Convenor), Messrs. Hartley, Garden, Krog, Mmes. Brewin, MacPhail, Pement, Messrs. Dalton, K. Jones, Warnke and Mr. Serwa.

By leave, the Hon. G. Clark moved --
That the following changes be made to Committees of the Legislative Assembly:

Mr. Krog and Mr. Warnke be added to the Select Standing Committee on Parliamentary Reform, Ethical Conduct, Standing Orders and Private Bills;

Mr. Gingell and Ms. MacPhail be added to the Select Standing Committee on Economic Development, Science, Labour, Training and Technology;

Ms. Tyabji be added to the Special Committee on Selection and Mr. Mitchell be removed;

Mr. Dalton be substituted for Mr. Farrell-Collins on the Select Standing Com- mittee on Economic Development, Science, Labour, Training and Technology; and

Mr. Hurd be substituted for Mr. Dalton on the Select Standing Committee on Transportation, Municipal Affairs and Housing.

The Speaker declared a short recess.

His Honour the Lieutenant Governor having entered the House, and being seated in the Chair -- E. George MacMinn, Q.C., Deputy Clerk, read the title to the following Bill:

Bill (No. 84) Labour Relations Code.

His Honour was pleased in Her Majesty's name to give assent to the said Bill.

The said assent was announced by E. George MacMinn, Q.C., Clerk of the Legislative Assembly

"In Her Majesty's name, His Honour the Lieutenant Governor doth assent to this Bill."

His Honour the Lieutenant Governor was then pleased to retire.

The Hon. G. Clark moved --
That the House, at its rising, do stand adjourned until it appears to the satisfaction of the Speaker, after consultation with the Government, that the public interest requires that the House shall meet, or until the Speaker may be advised by the Government that it is desired to prorogue the First Session of the Thirty-fifth Parliament of the Province of British Columbia. The Speaker may give notice that she is so satisfied or has been so advised and thereupon the House shall meet at the time stated in such notice, and, as the case may be, may transact its business as if it has been duly adjourned to that time and date; and

That, in the event of the Speaker being unable to act owing to illness or other cause, the Deputy Speaker shall act in her stead for the purpose of this order.

On the motion of the Hon. G. Clark the House adjourned at 2.09 p.m.
