CROWN CORPORATIONS REPORTING ACT

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, enacts as follows:

Public reporting required annually

1 (1) Once in each fiscal year, every Crown Corporation established under provincial law, shall file with the Lieutenant Governor in Council an annual financial and operations report, with respect to the previous fiscal year, in the form required by this Act.

(2) For the purposes of this Act, "fiscal year" means the period from April 1st in each calendar year to March 31st in the following calendar year.

(3) Within 15 days of its filing with the Lieutenant Governor in Council, the Minister of Finance shall:

(a) if the Legislative Assembly is then in session, table the report in the House, or,

(b) if the Legislative Assembly is not then in session, file the report with the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly.

Committee to determine form

2 The form and minimum content of the report required under this Act shall be as established by the Select Standing Committee of the Legislative Assembly on Finance, Crown Corporations, and Government Services.

Other obligations undiminished

3 Compliance with this Act shall not relieve or diminish the responsibility of a Crown Corporation to report, or to file reports, under any other statute, regulation, order, or enactment.

Special provisions

4 In addition to uniform provisions, the Committee may make additional special provisions with respect to the form and minimum contents of the financial and operating reports of particular Crown Corporations.

 
Explanatory Note

This Bill provides a uniform public reporting requirement for all Crown Corporations at least once in each fiscal year.
