HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:
1 In this Act
"elected office" means
(a) the office of councillor, mayor, elected director of a regional district, Commissioner of the Vancouver Parks Board, Member of the Legislative Assembly or school trustee, or
(b) any other elected public position designated by regulation of the Lieutenant Governor in Council.
2 No person shall hold more than one elected office, except in accordance with section 3.
3 (1) A person holding elected office may stand for election to another elected office without resigning his office.
(2) Upon the expiration of any appeal period after an election, a person elected to an elected office at that election shall be deemed to have resigned any elected office held at the time of such election.
4 (1) No person shall receive remuneration in respect of more than one elected office.
(2) A holder of elected office who is elected to a second elected office shall not receive remuneration from the second elected office until the holder of the elected office has resigned or is deemed by section 3 to have resigned the elected office that was held at the time of such election.
5 The Lieutenant Governor in Council may make regulations.
This Bill provides that a person may hold only one elected office at one time.
