Prayers by Ms. Lord.

Order called for "Oral Questions by Members."

By leave, Mr. Serwa presented a petition requesting a public inquiry with respect to the Nanaimo Commonwealth Holding Society.

Mr. Beattie presented a Report of the Special Committee to Appoint a Child, Youth and Family Advocate.

The Report was taken as read and received.

By leave of the House, Mr. Beattie moved that the Rules be suspended and the Report adopted.

A debate arose.

Motion agreed to.

By leave, Mr. Beattie moved--
That this House recommend to His Honour the Lieutenant Governor the appointment of Ms. Joyce Preston, as a Statutory Officer of the Legislative Assembly to exercise the powers and duties assigned to the Child, Youth and Family Advocate for the Province of British Columbia pursuant to the Child, Youth and Family Advocacy Act.

Motion agreed to unanimously.

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

Pursuant to Order, the House resumed the adjourned debate on the motion "That the Speaker do now leave the Chair" for the House to go into Committee of Supply.

The debate continued.

On the motion of Mr. Lali, the debate was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

And then the House adjourned at 5.58 p.m.
