His Honour was pleased in Her Majesty's name to give assent to the said Bills.

The said assent was announced by E. George MacMinn, Q.C., Clerk of the Legislative Assembly "In Her Majesty's name, His Honour the Lieutenant Governor does assent to these Bills."

His Honour the Lieutenant Governor was then pleased to retire.

The Hon. J. MacPhail (Minister of Social Services) presented to the Speaker a Message from His Honour the Lieutenant Governor, which read as follows:

The Lieutenant Governor transmits herewith Bill (No. 51) intituled Adoption Act and recommends the same to the Legislative Assembly.

The Hon. A. Petter (Minister of Forests) tabled the Annual Report of the Ministry of Forests, 1993/94.

On the motion of Mr. Chisholm, Bill (No. M 209) intituled An Act to Introduce a Minimum Ethanol Component for Gasoline was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

Order called for "Oral Questions by Members."

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

Section A of Committee of Supply having reported the last vote of the Estimates of the Ministry of Forests, debate on those Estimates was summarized, pursuant to Sessional Order of April 10, 1995.

The House resumed the adjourned debate on the motion for second reading of Bill (No. 26) intituled Criminal Records Review Act.

Mr. Dalton moved the following amendment:
That the motion for second reading of Bill (No. 26) the Criminal Records Review Act, be amended by deleting all the words after "that" and substituting therefor the following:

"Bill (No. 26) not be read a second time, but that the subject matter be referred to the Select Standing Committee on Justice, Constitutional Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations."

The debate on the amendment continued.

90  The Hon. C. Gabelmann to move--
Be it resolved that this Assembly call on Members of the House of Commons to unanimously support and give immediate passage to federal legislation which would ensure that suspects of serious violent crimes be required to provide DNA samples; and be it further resolved that this Assembly calls on the federal government to begin immediate preparation of a data base of DNA records of repeat violent and sexual offenders.

3   Mr. Serwa to ask the Hon. Minister of Transportation and Highways the following questions:
 
1. How many dollars have been collected in tolls on the Coquihalla Highway in each fiscal year since the highway was opened?
 
2. How many dollars were expended on construction of the Coquihalla Highway in each fiscal year for which construction was undertaken?
 
3. What was the total cost of accelerating construction of the Coquihalla Highway in order to be open for Expo 86?
 
4. How many dollars were borrowed (not current revenue dollars) in order to complete construction of the Coquihalla Highway, in each fiscal year for which such borrowing occurred?
