The Speaker declared a short recess.

His Honour the Lieutenant Governor having entered the House, and being seated in the Chair --
Ian D. Izard, Law Clerk and Clerk Assistant, read the titles to the following Bills:

His Honour was pleased in Her Majesty's name to give assent to the said Bills.

The said assent was announced by E. George MacMinn, Q.C., Clerk of the House, in the following words:

"In Her Majesty's name, His Honour the Lieutenant Governor doth assent to these Bills."

His Honour the Lieutenant Governor was then pleased to retire.

The Hon. A. Petter (Minister of Finance and Corporate Relations and Minister Responsible for Intergovernmental Relations) tabled the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia Annual Report, 1995.

53. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $432,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Ministry of Transportation and Highways, Minister's Office, to 31st March 1997.

54. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $627,623,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Ministry of Transportation and Highways: Ministry Operations (Per Estimates), $629,623,000; Reduction to Vote 54, Columbia Basin Trust Grant, Transferred to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food -- Vote 12, $2,000,000; to 31st March 1997.


Section A of Committee of Supply reported the Resolutions and completion of the Estimates of the Ministry of Transportation and Highways.

Report to be considered later today.

By agreement, summary debate of estimates passed in Section A (Ministry of Transportation and Highways) to be considered at the next sitting.

NOTICE OF MOTION

The Hon. J. MacPhail to move --

That, under section 69 of the Constitution Act and sections 3 and 4 of the Statute Revision Act, the Select Standing Committee of this House on Parliamentary Reform, Ethical Conduct, Standing Orders and Private Bills is designated under section 3 of the Statute Revision Act as the committee to examine the Revision prepared under that Act, and the committee is authorized

(1) to sit and carry out its statutory duties

(a) during a period when the Legislative Assembly is not in session, or

(b) during the period after prorogation until the next following session,

(2) to advise the Lieutenant Governor under section 4 of the Statute Revision Act of the committee's approval of the Revision and its recommendation that the Revision be brought into force, and

(3) following the adjournment, or at the next following session, to report or make any recommendations to the Legislative Assembly that the committee considers proper from time to time on the matters referred to the committee.
