Be it further resolved that the Legislature of British Columbia urge the Government of Canada to amend the Identification of Criminals Act to require persons convicted of serious violent or sexual offences to provide suitable DNA samples, to be stored in a nation-wide computer data bank.That a Special Committee be appointed to monitor and evaluate the progress of the work of the Transition Commissioner in respect of recommendations arising out of the Gove Inquiry into Child Protection, and that the Special Committee so appointed shall have the powers of a Select Standing Committee and is also empowered:
Be it resolved that the Legislature of British Columbia urge the Government of Canada to establish a nation-wide computer bank of known DNA samples to permit police to compare these samples with unidentified DNA samples recovered from crime scenes; and
