The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

Order for Committee of Supply called.

Pursuant to Sessional Order, order called for Section A of Committee of Supply (estimates of the Ministry of Labour).

Bill (No. 2) intituled Budget Measures Implementation Act, 1997 was again committed.

The Committee rose, reported progress and asked leave to sit again. Bill to be considered at the next sitting.

Two o'clock p.m.

The Hon. U. Dosanjh (Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Multiculturalism, Human Rights and Immigration) made a ministerial statement regarding Emergency Preparedness Week.

Mr. Plant made a statement.

The Hon. D. Lovick (Speaker) tabled the following documents:

Auditor General 1996/97: Report 7 -- Performance Audit -- Management of Travel -- Ministry of Finance and Corporate Relations; and

Auditor General 1996/97: Report 8 -- Performance Review -- Executive Severance Practices: Government Ministries and Crown Corporations.

Order called for "Oral Questions by Members."

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

The Hon. J. MacPhail advised that the House will sit Wednesday, pursuant to Standing Order 2 (2).

Order for Committee of Supply called.

Pursuant to Sessional Order, order called for Section A of Committee of Supply (estimates of the Ministry of Labour).

Bill (No. 2) intituled Budget Measures Implementation Act, 1997 was again committed.

In consideration of the motion that the Committee rise and report Bill (No. 2) complete with amendment, the Committee divided.

Bill (No. 2) was reported complete with amendment and, by leave, read a third time and passed.

Mr. Farrell-Collins rose on a point of order, namely, that the division on the motion that the Committee rise and report Bill (No. 2) complete with amendment had been inaccurately tallied and that the numbers of those present reflected a tie vote.

By leave, the Hon. J. MacPhail moved--

That the proceedings in regard to the third reading of Bill (No. 2) intituled Budget Measures Implementation Act, 1997 be declared null and void and that the Bill be re-committed forthwith.

The Bill was re-committed.

The Chair announced that the division on the motion that the Committee rise and report Bill (No. 2) complete with amendment had been a tie vote and, accordingly, she cast her vote in favour of the motion, and the Committee divided as follows:

Bill (No. 4) intituled Correction Amendment Act, 1997 was committed, reported complete without amendment, read a third time and passed.

Mr. Plant advised the Chair of his intention to raise a matter of privilege.

On the motion for second reading of Bill (No. 9) intituled Tourism British Columbia Act, a debate arose.

The debate continued.

On the motion of Mr. Nebbeling, the debate was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.
