Pursuant to Sessional Order, order called for Section A of Committee of Supply (estimates of the Ministry of Education, Skills and Training).

On the motion for second reading of Bill (No. 21) intituled Medicare Protection Amendment Act, 1997, a debate arose.

Ms. Sanders advised the Speaker that pursuant to section 10 (1) of the Members' Conflict of Interest Act, she would withdraw from the debate on Bill (No. 21).

Ms. Hawkins advised the Speaker that pursuant to section 10 (1) of the Members' Conflict of Interest Act, she would withdraw from the debate on Bill (No. 21).

The debate continued.

Bill (No. 21) read a second time and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for committal at the next sitting after today.

On the motion for second reading of Bill (No. 48) intituled Emergency Communications Corporations Act, a debate arose.

Bill (No. 25) intituled Fish Protection Act was again committed, reported complete with amendment, and by leave, read a third time and passed.

Bill (No. 29) intituled Park Amendment Act, 1997 was committed, reported complete with amendment, and by leave, read a third time and passed.

Bill (No. 39) intituled Building Officials' Association Act was committed, reported complete without amendment, read a third time and passed.

Bill (No. 46) intituled Local Government Statutes Amendment Act (No. 2), 1997 was committed, reported complete with amendment, and by leave, read a third time and passed.

22. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $451,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Ministry of Education, Skills and Training, Minister's Office, to 31st March, 1998.

23. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $5,782,590,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Ministry of Education, Skills and Training, Ministry Operations, to 31st March, 1998.
