THE BRITISH COLUMBIA INSURANCE COMPANY, 1904 AMENDMENT ACT, 2000

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:

1 The British Columbia Insurance Company Act, 1904, S.B.C. 1903-04, c. 57, is amended by repealing the title and substituting the following:

OPTIMUM WEST INSURANCE COMPANY ACT .

2 The following section is added:

Name change

1.1 (1) Effective June 1, 2000 the name of the Company is changed to "Optimum West Insurance Company".

(2) If in any Act, regulation, order, contract, certificate, licence or other document made before June 1, 2000 a reference is made to The British Columbia Insurance Company, or to a director or officer of the Company, by any designation including the name of the Company, the reference is deemed to be to the Optimum West Insurance Company or to a director or officer of it.

(3) Nothing in The British Columbia Insurance Company, 1904 Amendment Act, 2000, affects the rights and liabilities or any debt, duty, obligation, undertaking, privilege, credit, asset, property, right of action or interest of the Company acquired or given under its former name.

3 Section 18 is repealed.
