HEALTH CARE FUNDING PROTECTION ACT

Preamble

Whereas health care is the single most important issue to the people of British Columbia;

Whereas health care funding has eroded over time due to the pressure of inflation and population increase;

HER MAJESTY, by and with the consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:

1. Purpose

To ensure that the existing amount of funding for health care is not eroded due to inflation or population increases, the government must index future Ministry of Health funding levels to both the consumer price index and population increases noted by Vital Statistics department of the Ministry of Health.

2. Commencement

This Act comes into force by regulations of the Lieutenant Governor in Council.


Explanatory Note

This Bill will ensure that Ministry of Health funding levels are not eroded due to inflation or increases in population.
