The Hon. C. McGregor (Minister of Advanced Education, Training and Technology and Minister Responsible for Youth) presented to the Speaker a Message from His Honour the Lieutenant Governor, which read as follows:

The Lieutenant Governor transmits herewith Bill (No. 9) intituled Access to Education Act and recommends the same to the Legislative Assembly.

Bill introduced and read a first time.

Bill Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

On the motion of Mr. Kasper, Bill (No. M 201) intituled Injured Workers Wage Loss Continuation Act was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

Mr. Thorpe presented the Eighth, Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Reports of the Select Standing Committee on Public Accounts for the Fourth Session of the Thirty-sixth Parliament.

The Reports were taken as read and received.

By leave of the House, Mr. Thorpe moved that the Reports be adopted.

Motion agreed to.

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

Pursuant to Order, the House resumed the adjourned debate on the motion "That the Speaker do now leave the Chair" for the House to go into Committee of Supply.

The debate continued.

On the motion of the Hon. J. Doyle, the debate was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

And then the House adjourned at 11.53 a.m.

Two o'clock p.m.

On the motion of Mr. Orcherton, Bill (No. M 202) intituled Medical Practitioners Amendment Act, 2001 was introduced, read a first time and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

Order called for "Oral Questions by Members."

By leave, Mr. de Jong tabled a copy of a letter from Shakeland Wood Processors referred to during Oral Question Period.

Mr. Kasper presented the Report of the Special Committee on Information Privacy in the Private Sector for the Fourth Session of the Thirty-sixth Parliament.

The Report was taken as read and received.

A debate arose.

By leave of the House, Mr. Kasper moved that the Report be adopted.

Motion agreed to.

The Hon. C. McGregor (Minister of Advanced Education, Training and Technology) tabled the Ministry of Advanced Education, Training and Technology Annual Report 1999/2000.

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

 
  1  The Hon. U. Dosanjh moved --
Be it resolved that this House is opposed to the provincial government using referenda to determine policy on issues affecting minority rights such as First Nations' treaty rights.

A debate arose.

Mr. Petter moved an amendment to the motion as follows:

Be it resolved that the Motion "Be it resolved this House is opposed to the provincial government using referenda to determine policy on issues affecting minority rights such as First Nations' treaty rights." be amended by substituting a comma for the period after the words "treaty rights" and adding the following: "including policy or guiding principles for treaty negotiation mandates."

The debate on the amendment continued.

On the motion of the Hon. J. Kwan, the debate on the amendment was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

Pursuant to Order, the House resumed the adjourned debate on the motion "That the Speaker do now leave the Chair" for the House to go into Committee of Supply.
