5 Ms. Kwan moved--: Be it resolved that this House opposes the lift of the tuition fee freeze.

The Hon. S. Bond moved the following amendment--: That Motion No. 5 be amended by striking out all the words after "that" and substituting "This House supports the return of autonomy to BC's public post secondary institutions to set their own tuition fees." (Mr. Manhas adjourned the debate on the amendment.)

PRIVATE MEMBERS' MOTIONS ON NOTICE


1 Ms. Kwan to move--: Be it resolved that this House supports the rights of renters and believes that they should be protected and enhanced.

2 Ms. Kwan to move--: Be it resolved that this House recognizes that every dollar spent now on Children will save seven dollars in the future and therefore it is a good investment for government to enhance early development services for all Children.

3 Ms. Kwan to move--: Be it resolved that this House is determined to protect the right of all British Columbians to safe, secure and affordable housing.

6 Ms. Kwan to move--: Be it resolved that this House supports the right of students to have affordable and accessible post-secondary education.

7 Ms. Kwan to move--: Be it resolved that this House acknowledges the right of every British Columbian to food, shelter and clothing, and also acknowledges the responsibility of the provincial government to ensure those rights.

8 Ms. MacPhail to move--: Be it resolved that this House urges the Minister of Forests to work expeditiously, diligently and with due care, professionalism and to solve the Soft-Wood Lumber dispute.

10 Ms. MacPhail to move--: Be it resolved that this House recognizes the economic challenges facing communities across British Columbia and urges the government to host a broad based provincial economic summit, including but not limited to business leaders, representatives of the non-profit sector, community leaders, Aboriginal leaders, labour leaders and students.

11 Ms. MacPhail to move--: Be it resolved that this House acknowledges the important service to all British Columbians provided by the Provincial Ambulance Service and asserts that timely ambulance services save and protect lives and therefore these services must be maintained for all communities.

12 Ms. MacPhail to move--: Be it resolved that this House opposes any changes to regulations and legislation that expand access to our natural resources without proper environment impact assessments being done prior to the changes being made.

13 Ms. MacPhail to move--: Be it resolved that this House recognizes the clear benefits of Apprenticeship Training programs and the services offered by the Industry, Training and Apprenticeship Commission.

14 Ms. MacPhail to move--: Be it resolved that this House acknowledges the contribution that provincially funded programs have made to the fight against violence against women and is opposed to the decline in funding for women's services, ranging from pre-employment services to direct and supporting services delivered through women's centres.

18 Mr. R. Stewart to move--: Be it resolved that this House supports reducing the regulatory burden on BC Business that impedes economic growth and job creation.

19 Mr. Lee to move--: Be it resolved that this House recognizes the important role of small business in rebuilding the economy of British Columbia.

20 Mr. Mayencourt to move--: Be it resolved that this House fully supports Vancouver's bid for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

21 Mr. Les to move--: Be it resolved that this House recognizes the important role of public-private partnerships in rebuilding British Columbia's infrastructure.

22 Mr. Belsey to move--: Be it resolved that alternative energy sources are actively supported by this government and that the provincial and federal government work towards developing renewable energy technology in the Hecate Strait.

23 Mr. MacKay to move--: Be it resolved that the provincial government supports efforts by the Northwest Corridor Development Corporation to create a strong transportation route across the northern portion of our province.

24 Mr. Cobb to move--: Be it resolved that this House acknowledges the Mountain Pine Beetle, which has dramatically impacted the health of forests in the northern interior and supports efforts by the Mountain Pine Beetle Task Force to implement an action plan aimed at preventing the spread of this epidemic.

25 Mr. Bray to move--: Be it resolved that this House supports greater parental involvement in the education system.

26 Mr. Belsey to move--: Be it resolved that this House recognizes the tremendous potential of the oil and natural gas sector in British Columbia and supports exploring all opportunities to expand this sector.

27 Mr. Mayencourt to move--: Acknowledging that children are our greatest resource and therefore our greatest responsibility, be it resolved that this House encourage the resolution of the matter of funding for community schools and the lunch program before school re-opens in September.

28 Mr. Bennett to move--: Be it resolved that this House support the inclusion of coal in British Columbia's energy policy and that coal be used in an environmentally responsible way to generate electricity in British Columbia.

29 Mr. Wong to move--: Acknowledging that small businesses have benefited from recent tax changes, be it resolved that this House assure the many members of this vital economic community, a community that creates a great number of new jobs in BC, that they will soon be relieved of the onerous regulatory burden they must currently try to deal with.

31 Mr. Penner to move--: Be it resolved that this House supports the Pacific Northwest Economic Region in encouraging the federal governments of Canada and the United States to take practical measures to improve domestic security and thereby facilitate the free flow of legitimate trade and travel across our mutual border.

43 Ms. MacPhail to move--: That Standing Order 84 be deleted and the following substituted therefore:; Standing Order 84 -- (1) In proceedings upon bills in Committee of the Whole, any request by a member of the public to appear as a witness on a bill before the Committee of the Whole must be considered as a first order of business.; (2) A member of the public may request to appear as a witness on a bill by applying to the office of the Speaker.; (3) A witness appearing on a bill before the Committee of the Whole may be subject to examination by the Members.; (4) Upon conclusion of the submissions of witnesses as provided for in 84 (1), (2) and (3), every clause shall be considered by the Committee in its proper order, with the preamble and title being considered last.; (5) Any clause may be postponed but shall be taken up before the Bill has been reported to the House.
