ORDERS OF THE DAY -- Continued
No. 100 -- Monday, November 3, 2003 -- 10 a.m.

Schedule C

PUBLIC WRITTEN QUESTIONS

12  Adriane Carr, Leader, Green Party of British Columbia, to ask the Hon. the Minister of Transportation, regarding the Minister's responsibility for BC Rail, the following question:--
BC Rail produces profits for BC taxpayers and stimulates economic growth in rural BC -- generating close to $30 million of business a year in Prince George alone. In New Zealand, privatizing public rail resulted in loss of rural rail services and the decline of many rural communities. In light of the strong, rapidly growing public opposition to privatizing the operations of BC Rail and the fact that BC Rail is indispensable to the economy of rural BC, will you drop, as you did with the Coquihalla Highway, your plans to privatize the operation of this service?
