The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

Order for "Private Members' Statements" called.

 
 114  By leave, Ms. MacPhail moved--
Be it resolved that this House encourage the Government of British Columbia to approach its dealings with First Nations, particularly regarding the sale of BC Rail Ltd. to CN, with an emphasis on honesty, clarity and respect.

A debate arose.

 
Hon. G. Plant (Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Treaty Negotiations) moved the following amendment--
That Motion 114 be amended by deleting the word "approach" and replacing it with the word "continue"; and by deleting the words "sale of BC Rail Ltd. to CN" and replacing them with "BC Rail Investment Partnership."

A debate arose.

On the motion of Mr. Belsey, debate was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

And then the House adjourned at 12 p.m.

Pursuant to Sessional Order, order called for Section A of Committee of Supply.

On the motion for second reading of Bill (No. 33) intituled Forests Statutes Amendment Act, 2004, a debate arose.

The Hon. J. Murray (Minister of Management Services) advised the Speaker that pursuant to section 10 (1) of the Members' Conflict of Interest Act, she would withdraw from the debate on Bill (No. 33).

Bill (No. 33) read a second time and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for committal at the next sitting after today.

On the motion for second reading of Bill (No. 35) intituled Partnership Amendment Act, 2004, a debate arose.

Bill (No. 35) read a second time and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for committal at the next sitting after today.

Pursuant to Sessional Order, order called for Section B of Committee of Supply.

The Committee recessed until 6.45 p.m.

9. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $1,898,849,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Ministry of Advanced Education, Ministry Operations, to 31st March, 2005.


Section B of Committee of Supply reported the Resolution and completion of the estimates of the Ministry of Advanced Education.

Report to be considered at the next sitting.

Committee to sit again at the next sitting.

37. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $811,060,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Ministry of Transportation, Ministry Operations, to 31st March, 2005.


Section A of Committee of Supply reported the Resolution and completion of the estimates of the Ministry of Transportation.

Report to be considered at the next sitting.

Committee to sit again at the next sitting.

By agreement, summary debate of estimates passed in Section A (Ministry of Transportation) to be considered at the next sitting.

And then the House adjourned at 8.42 p.m.
