Ten o'clock a.m.

The Clerk of the House informed the House of the unavoidable absence of the Speaker, whereupon Mr. Weisbeck, Deputy Speaker, took the Chair, pursuant to Standing Order 12.

Prayers by Mr. K. Stewart.

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

On the motion for second reading of Bill (No. 38) intituled Securities Act, a debate arose.

The debate continued.

On the motion of the Hon. R. Thorpe, the debate was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

And then the House adjourned at 11.52 a.m.

The Hon. G. Abbott (Minister of Sustainable Resource Management), on behalf of the Hon. G. Collins (Minister of Finance), presented to the Speaker a Message from Her Honour the Lieutenant Governor, which read as follows:

Mr. Weisbeck (Deputy Speaker) tabled the British Columbia Legislative Library Annual Report, 2003.

The House resumed the adjourned debate on the motion for second reading of Bill (No. 38) intituled Securities Act.

The debate continued.

Bill (No. 38) read a second time and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for committal at the next sitting after today.

And then the House adjourned at 5.35 p.m.
