WRITTEN QUESTIONS ON NOTICE

 
1 Mr. Simons to ask the Hon. Minister of Transportation the following questions:
1. Must the Province accept the British Columbia Ferry Services Inc. ("BC Ferries") belief that the sinking of the Queen of the North was an event of force majeure?
2. What factors does the Province consider when reviewing the preliminary decision of the Ferry Commissioner regarding an application from BC Ferries for an extraordinary price cap increase?
3. Who is the Province's representative when meeting with BC Ferries regarding the Ferry Commissioner's preliminary decision on BC Ferries' application for an extraordinary price cap increase?
4. When the parties meet to discuss the Ferry Commissioner's preliminary decision regarding BC Ferries' application for an extraordinary price cap increase, do the parties consider the effect of the increase on individual community members?
5. When the parties meet to discuss the Ferry Commissioner's preliminary decision regarding BC Ferries' application for an extraordinary price cap increase, do the parties consider the effect of the increase on the tourism industry?
6. When the parties meet to discuss the Ferry Commissioner's preliminary decision regarding BC Ferries' application for an extraordinary price cap increase, do the parties consider the effect of the increase on business interests in coastal communities?
7. Has the Ferry Commissioner authorized the continuance of the Ferry Transportation Fee payable by the Province to BC Ferries for the Designated Ferry Routes known as Routes 10 and 11?
8. Has the Ferry Transportation Fee payable to BC Ferries in respect to the Designated Ferry Routes known collectively as the Northern Routes, been reduced for the period of service reduction?
9. Is the Province contemplating a reduction in the Ferry Transportation Fee that is payable to BC Ferries pursuant to Schedule "B" of the Coastal Ferry Services Contract with respect to the Northern Routes affected by the sinking of the Queen of the North?
