The Hon. W. Oppal (Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Multiculturalism) presented to the Speaker a Message from Her Honour the Lieutenant Governor, which read as follows:

The Lieutenant Governor transmits herewith Bill (No. 20) intituled Securities Amendment Act, 2006 and recommends the same to the Legislative Assembly.

Bill Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

The Hon. B. Barisoff (Speaker) tabled the Office of the Auditor General 2005/06 Report 10: Building Better Reports: Our Assessment of the 2004/05 Annual Service Plan Reports of Government.

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

Order for Committee of Supply called.

Pursuant to Sessional Order, order called for Section A of Committee of Supply.

Bill (No. 19) intituled Settlement of International Investment Disputes Act was committed, reported complete without amendment, read a third time and passed.

By leave, the Hon. K. Falcon (Minister of Transportation) tabled a petition from British Columbia Parents and Teachers for Life.

Bill (No. 17) intituled Attorney General Statutes Amendment Act, 2006 was committed, reported complete without amendment, read a third time and passed.

Bill (No. 13) intituled Income Trust Liability Act was committed, reported complete without amendment, read a third time and passed.

Bill (No. 18) intituled Finance Statutes Amendment Act, 2006 was committed, reported complete without amendment, read a third time and passed.

24. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $5,195,667,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Ministry of Education, Ministry Operations, to 31st March, 2007.


Section A of Committee of Supply reported the Resolution and completion of the estimates of the Ministry of Education.

Report to be considered at the next sitting.

Committee to sit again at the next sitting.

By agreement, summary debate of estimates passed in Section A (Ministry of Education) to be considered at the next sitting.

And then the House adjourned at 11.55 a.m.

The Hon. L. Reid (Minister of State for Childcare) advised the House of the death of Val Anderson, a former Member of the Legislative Assembly, and requested the House observe a minute of silence.

The House observed a minute of silence.

Mr. Farnworth made a statement.

Order called for "Oral Questions by Members."

The Hon. B. Barisoff (Speaker) tabled the Report of the Chief Electoral Officer on Recommendations for Legislative Change, March 2006.

Section B of Committee of Supply reported progress of the estimates of the Ministry of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation.

Report to be considered at the next sitting.

The Speaker declared a short recess.

His Honour the Administrator having entered the House, and being seated in the Chair --

E. George MacMinn, Q.C., Clerk of the House, read the titles to the following Acts:

Bill (No. 13) Income Trust Liability Act.
Bill (No. 14) Small Business and Revenue Statutes Amendment Act, 2006.
Bill (No. 15) Miscellaneous Statutes Amendment Act, 2006.

Bill (No. 18) Finance Statutes Amendment Act, 2006.
Bill (No. 19) Settlement of International Investment Disputes Act.

His Honour was pleased in Her Majesty's name to give assent to the said Acts.

The said assent was announced by E. George MacMinn, Q.C., Clerk of the House, in the following words:

"In Her Majesty's name, His Honour the Administrator doth assent to these Acts."

His Honour the Administrator was then pleased to retire.

And then the House adjourned at 5.37 p.m.
