Prayers by Mr. Routley.

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

Order called for "Private Members' Statements."

 47  By leave, Mr. Chouhan moved--
Be it resolved that this House cover farm workers under all relevant provisions of the Employment Standards Act;
Be it further resolved that the BC government immediately reestablish the Agricultural Compliance Team (RCMP and WCB) and other inter-agency teams (RCMP, WCB, HRDC, CCRA and Motor Vehicle Branch) to ensure enforcement;
Be it further resolved that the roadside spot checks of vehicles is restored and increased;
Be it further resolved that the BC government order immediately a public inquiry into the roadside accident of a van carrying farm workers on March 6, 2007.

A debate arose.

On the motion of Mr. Puchmayr, the debate was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

And then the House adjourned at 11.59 a.m.

The Hon. R. Neufeld (Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources) presented to the Speaker a Message from Her Honour the Lieutenant Governor, which read as follows:

The Lieutenant Governor transmits herewith Bill (No. 30) intituled Finance Statutes (Innovative Clean Energy Fund) Amendment Act, 2007 and recommends the same to the Legislative Assembly.

Bill Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

Order for Committee of Supply called.

Pursuant to Sessional Order, order called for Section A of Committee of Supply.

Bill (No. 16) intituled Public Safety Statutes Amendment Act, 2007 was committed, reported complete without amendment, read a third time and passed.

Bill (No. 19) intituled Small Business and Revenue Statutes Amendment Act, 2007 was committed, reported complete without amendment, read a third time and passed.

On the motion for second reading of Bill (No. 20) intituled School (Student Achievement Enabling) Amendment Act, 2007, a debate arose.

The debate continued.

On the motion of Mr. Chudnovsky, the debate was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

12. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $2,151,076,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Ministry of Advanced Education, Ministry Operations, to 31st March, 2008.


Section A of Committee of Supply reported the Resolution and completion of the estimates of the Ministry of Advanced Education.

Report to be considered at the next sitting.

Committee to sit again at the next sitting.

By agreement, summary debate of estimates passed in Section A (Ministry of Advanced Education) to be considered at the next sitting.

And then the House adjourned at 6.21 p.m.

NOTICE OF MOTIONS

Wednesday, April 25

 50  Mr. Brar to move--
Be it resolved that this House recommend the construction of the Ambulatory Care Facility in Surrey to begin in 2007 as recommended by the Fraser Health Authority and announced by the Minister of Health, rather than delaying the construction to 2008 as announced by the Premier; and,
Be it further resolved that the construction of the Ambulatory Care Facility be completed by 2009 as recommended by the Fraser Health Authority and accepted by the Minister of Health, rather than delaying it to 2010 as recently announced by the Minister of Health.
