Bill (No. 24) intituled Parks and Protected Areas Statutes Amendment Act, 2007 was committed, reported complete without amendment, read a third time and passed.

Section A of Committee of Supply reported progress of the estimates of the Ministry of Finance.

Report to be considered at the next sitting.

On the motion of Mr. Hawes, Bill (No. Pr 402) intituled Mission Foundation Amendment Act, 2007 was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered referred to the Select Standing Committee on Parliamentary Reform, Ethical Conduct, Standing Orders and Private Bills.

Order called for "Members' Statements."

Order called for "Oral Questions by Members."

The Hon. B. Penner (Minister of Environment and Minister Responsible for Water Stewardship and Sustainable Communities) tabled the Environmental Appeal Board Annual Report, 2005/2006.

The House proceeded to "Orders of the Day."

Pursuant to Sessional Order, order called for Section A and Section B of Committee of Supply.

29. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $186,557,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Ministry of Environment, Ministry Operations, to 31st March, 2008.

30. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $6,957,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Ministry of Environment, Environmental Assessment Office, to 31st March, 2008.

49. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $2,077,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Other Appropriations, Environmental Appeal Board and Forest Appeals Commission, to 31st March, 2008.


Section B of Committee of Supply reported the Resolutions and completion of the estimates of the Ministry of Environment.

31. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $54,555,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Ministry of Finance, Ministry Operations, to 31st March, 2008.

32. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $36,633,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Ministry of Finance, Public Affairs Bureau, to 31st March, 2008.

43. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $557,800,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Management of Public Funds and Debt, Management of Public Funds and Debt, to 31st March, 2008.

44. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $498,800,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Other Appropriations, Contingencies (All Ministries) and New Programs, to 31st March, 2008.

45. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $17,000,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Other Appropriations, BC Family Bonus, to 31st March, 2008.

46. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $4,268,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Other Appropriations, Electoral Boundaries Commission, to 31st March, 2008.

47. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $1,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Other Appropriations, Commissions on Collection of Public Funds, to 31st March, 2008.

48. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $1,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Other Appropriations, Allowances for Doubtful Revenue Accounts, to 31st March, 2008.

By agreement, summary debate of estimates passed in Section A (Ministry of Finance) to be considered at the next sitting.

NOTICE OF MOTIONS

Monday, May 7

 57  Mr. Bains to move--
Be it resolved that this House direct the BC government to work with professional organizations and foreign trained professionals and other stakeholders to develop a process to speed the recognition of foreign credentials so that foreign trained professionals can realize their full potential and so that BC and Canada can benefit from their work.
 
 58  Ms. Trevena to move--
Be it resolved that this House recognizes that 3rd May, 2007 is World Press Freedom Day. In so doing, this House notes, underlines and commits to the importance of the freedom of the media to democratic government.
In light of that recognition be it further resolved that this House urges the Government of Canada to work with other governments which are demanding the release of BBC journalist Alan Johnston, who was kidnapped in Gaza in March.
