On the motion of Ms. James, Bill (No. M 222) intituled Parliamentary Calendar Act, 2007 was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

The Hon. B. Barisoff (Speaker) tabled the Legislative Assembly Management Committee Annual Report, for the period March 2005 to March 2007.

Order called for "Members' Statements."

Order called for "Oral Questions by Members."

Ms. Karagianis presented a petition regarding funding for Mary Manning Centre and Sexual Abuse Intervention Programs in B.C.

Mr. Fraser presented a petition regarding antifreeze containing ethylene glycol.

Mr. Routley presented a petition regarding cuts to childcare.

The Hon. K. Falcon (Minister of Transportation) tabled the British Columbia Railway Company Annual Report, 2006.

Mr. Fleming presented a petition regarding cuts to childcare.

Mr. Routley presented a petition regarding Honeymoon Bay flooding.

Mr. Robertson presented a petition regarding the impact of the Canada Line on small businesses.

The Hon. C. Taylor (Minister of Finance) tabled the following documents:

Report of Guarantees and Indemnities Authorized and Issued for the Fiscal Year Ended March 31, 2006;

Statement of 2006/07 Borrowings pursuant to Section 56 of the Financial Administration Act, Schedule A and Schedule B; and

That the Legislative Assembly appoint Mr. Errol Price as the Acting Auditor General for the Province of British Columbia pursuant to section 7 of the Auditor General Act, effective from June 2, 2007 until the date when Mr. John Doyle is able to commence his official duties as Auditor General.

3. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $322,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Officers of the Legislature, Conflict of Interest Commissioner, to 31st March, 2008.

4. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $8,961,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Officers of the Legislature, Elections BC, to 31st March, 2008.

5. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $2,952,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Officers of the Legislature, Information and Privacy Commissioner, to 31st March, 2008.

6. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $833,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Officers of the Legislature, Merit Commissioner, to 31st March, 2008.

7. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $4,214,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Officers of the Legislature, Ombudsman, to 31st March, 2008.

8. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $1,532,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Officers of the Legislature, Police Complaint Commissioner, to 31st March, 2008.

9. Resolved, That a sum not exceeding $4,815,000 be granted to Her Majesty to defray the expenses of Officers of the Legislature, Representative for Children and Youth, to 31st March, 2008.

The Hon. C. Taylor moved--
That the reports of resolutions from the Committees of Supply on March 6, 7, 12, 14, 28, April 18, 23, May 1, 2, 3, 8, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17, 29 and 31 be now received, taken as read and agreed to.

The Hon. C. Taylor moved--
That there be granted from and out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund the sum of 29 billion, 279 million, 654 thousand dollars. This sum includes that authorized to be paid under section 1 of the Supply Act (No. 1), 2007 and is granted to Her Majesty towards defraying the charges and expenses of the public service of the province for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2008.

Motion agreed to.

The Hon. C. Taylor moved--
That there be granted from and out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund the sum of 1 billion, 866 million, 907 thousand dollars. This sum includes that authorized to be paid under section 2 of the Supply Act (No. 1), 2007 and is granted to Her Majesty towards defraying the capital, loans, investments and other financing requirements of the province for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2008.

Motion agreed to.

That the House, at its rising, do stand adjourned until it appears to the satisfaction of the Speaker, after consultation with the Government, that the public interest requires that the House shall meet, or until the Speaker may be advised by the Government that it is desired to prorogue the Third Session of the Thirty-eighth Parliament of the Province of British Columbia. The Speaker may give notice that he is so satisfied or has been so advised and thereupon the House shall meet at the time stated in such notice, and, as the case may be, may transact its business as if it has been duly adjourned to that time and date; and
That, in the event of the Speaker being unable to act owing to illness or other cause, the Deputy Speaker shall act in his stead for the purpose of this order.

Mr. Dix to introduce a Bill intituled The Colorectal Cancer Prevention Act, 2007.


NOTICE OF MOTIONS

65  Mr. Dix to move--
Be it resolved that this House endorse the creation of a comprehensive Colorectal Cancer Screening Program across BC with the following elements:
1. Access to Biennial Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) exams for all BC men and women between the ages of 50 and 74;
2. FOBT test kits available in doctor's offices, walk-in clinics, community health centres and pharmacies;
3. A central lab managed by the BC Cancer Agency to ensure quality standards and streamlined results;
4. Distribution of kits by mail to BC residents in selected health regions to assess the impact of home receipt of FOBT test kits on participation rates;
5. Establishment of a registry to send reminders about screening and ensure information and access to the FOBT;
6. Reminder notices to all BC residents to take the test;
7. Investment in technology and resources to expand access to colonoscopy; and
8. Creation of a Colorectal Cancer Awareness and Screening Fund with an advisory board of experts and colon cancer survivors to assess the success of the program and other screening methods and support awareness and healthy lifestyles.
