The Hon. M. de Jong (Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation) advised the House of the death of Hereditary Chief Cosmos Richard Frank of the Ahousaht First Nation.

The House observed a minute of silence.

Be it resolved that this House call on the BC government to amend the Community Care and Assisted Living Act to improve accountability and systems of care for seniors by mandating random annual inspections of community care facilities and ensuring that all inspection reports are accessible to the public through an electronic registry.

83  Ms. James to move—

Be it resolved that this House call on the BC government to create a Representative for Seniors to improve systems of care and provide support for seniors and their families in British Columbia.

84  Mr. Lali to move—

Be it resolved that this House demand the government immediately convene an emergency summit on the future of forestry in this province which will allow communities, workers and the citizens of British Columbia to, once again, have a direct say in the development of a new vision for our forests, our industry, and our communities.
