Mr. Bennett presented the Second Report of the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services for the Third Session of the Thirty-eighth Parliament.

The Report was taken as read and received.

By leave of the House, Mr. Bennett moved that the Report be adopted.

Motion agreed to.

The House proceeded to “Orders of the Day.”

Order called for “Private Members’ Statements.”

1  Mr. Rustad moved —

Be it resolved that this House recognizes the importance of the Softwood Lumber Agreement.

A debate arose.

Mr. Bennett reserved his right to raise a matter of privilege.

Mr. B. Simpson reserved his right to raise a matter of privilege.

On the motion of Mr. Hawes, the debate was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

And then the House adjourned at 11.58 a.m.

Pursuant to Order, the House resumed the adjourned debate on the Address in Reply to the Speech of His Honour the Lieutenant Governor at the opening of the Session.

The debate continued.

On the motion of the Hon. K. Krueger, the debate was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

Be it resolved that this House call on the BC Government to develop a comprehensive strategy for eliminating child poverty in the province of British Columbia.

Be it resolved that this House urge the BC Government to implement a pilot study using bio-diesel to fuel BC Ferries.

28  Ms. Karagianis to move —

Be it resolved that this House urge the BC Government to use bio-diesel fuel to heat all government buildings including the Legislature.

29  Ms. Karagianis to move —

Be it resolved that this House urge the BC Government to petition the Federal Government of Canada to extend Employment Insurance Benefits to self-employed individuals.
