The Hon. M. Coell (Minister of Advanced Education and Minister Responsible for Research and Technology) presented two petitions regarding pending ferry fare increases to coastal communities.

Mr. Krog reserved his right to raise a matter of privilege.

Be it resolved that this House call on the BC Government to develop a comprehensive strategy for eliminating child poverty in the province of British Columbia.

A debate arose.

On the motion of Mr. Coons, the debate was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

On the motion of Mr. Puchmayr, Bill (No. M 201) intituled Reservists’ Guaranteed Leave Act, 2008 was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

Order called for “Members’ Statements.”

Order called for “Oral Questions by Members.”

Mr. Krog rose on a matter of privilege concerning statements made in the House by the Honourable Premier.

The Hon. M. de Jong reserved the right to respond.

The House proceeded to “Orders of the Day.”

Pursuant to Order, the House resumed the adjourned debate on the motion “That the Speaker do now leave the Chair” for the House to go into Committee of Supply.

The debate continued.

By leave, the proceedings on introduction of Bill (No. M 201) intituled Reservists’ Guaranteed Leave Act, 2008 were regularized and the Bill Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting of the House after today.

On the motion of Mr. Puchmayr, the debate was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

Be it resolved that this House request the government not to proceed with an Enhanced Drivers Licence project unless the personal information of participating drivers remains in British Columbia and until the Government of British Columbia has made available to the public a thorough assessment of the risks associated with the use of Radio Frequency Identification Technology.
