The House resumed the adjourned debate on Motion 37 authorizing the Committee of Supply for this Session to sit in two sections designated Section A and Section B.

The debate continued.

On the motion of Ms. Thorne, the debate was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

The House resumed the adjourned debate on Motion 37 authorizing the Committee of Supply for this Session to sit in two sections designated Section A and Section B.

The debate continued.

Mr. Simons moved the following amendment:

In paragraph 2, strike out after Section A and replace with “and within one sitting day of the passage of this Motion, the House Leader of the Official Opposition may advise the Government House Leader, in writing, of three ministerial Estimates which the Official Opposition requires to be considered in Section B of the Committee of Supply, and upon receipt of such notice in writing, the Government House Leader shall confirm in writing that the said three ministerial Estimates shall be considered in Section B of the Committee of Supply”.

The debate on the amendment continued.

The Hon. C. Richmond moved that the question be now put.

Mr. Farnworth rose on a point of order pursuant to Standing Order 46.

The Speaker advised that the question would be now put.

Mr. Speaker stated that he had carefully considered the wording of Standing Order 46 and the debate by both the Opposition side and the Government side. He further stated that he had listened carefully to the Opposition designated speaker, the Leader of the Opposition and the Government House Leader. He stated that in his opinion there had been good debate on Motion 37 and felt that the question could be now put.
