Be it resolved that this House recognizes the tremendous lasting economic, sport, cultural and social legacies that will benefit communities across the Province of British Columbia and all of Canada from hosting the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

A debate arose.

On the motion of Mr. Nuraney, debate was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

Pursuant to Standing Order 25b, division on the motion to adjourn the debate was deferred until 30  minutes prior to the ordinary time fixed for adjournment.

And then the House adjourned at 12.03 p.m.

The Hon. B. Barisoff (Speaker) presented the Legislative Library Annual Report, 2007.

On the motion of Ms. James, Bill (No. M 215) intituled The Campaign Finance Reform Act, 2008 was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

Order called for “Members’ Statements.”

Mr. Fraser presented a petition regarding antifreeze containing ethylene glycol.

By leave, the Hon. J. van Dongen (Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General) tabled a copy of a letter from the Office of the Auditor General regarding an independent review of the issues raised with the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia’s (ICBC) Research and Training facility in Burnaby.

Ms. Conroy presented a petition regarding the Topping Creek watershed.

Mr. Coons presented a petition regarding a moratorium on ferry fare increases.

Pursuant to Sessional Order, order called for Section A of Committee of Supply.

On the motion for second reading of Bill (No. 35) intituled Social Workers Act, a debate arose.

Bill (No. 35) read a second time and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for committal at the next sitting of the House after today.

Bill (No. 22) intituled Health Care Costs Recovery Act was committed, reported complete without amendment, read a third time and passed.

Bill (No. 23) intituled Public Health Act was committed.

Section 83 of Bill (No. 23) passed, on division.

Bill (No. 23) was reported complete with amendment, and by leave, read a third time and passed.

Bill (No. 25) intituled Health Professions (Regulatory Reform) Amendment Act, 2008 was committed.

A proposed amendment on section 7 of Bill (No. 25) passed, on division.
