The Speaker stated that he had had the opportunity to review Bill (No. M 215), Campaign Finance Reform Act, 2008 which was introduced in the House by the Member for Victoria-Beacon Hill. The Bill would require expenditure of public funds contrary to Standing Order 67, and is therefore out of order in the hands of a Private Member, and will not proceed to second reading.

On the motion of Mr. Puchmayr, Bill (No. M 218) intituled Farm Workers Fairness Act, 2008 was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

On the motion of Mr. Cubberley, Bill (No. M 219) intituled Funding Stability for Boards of Education Act, 2008 was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

On the motion of Mr. Krog, Bill (No. M 220) intituled Accountability Act, 2008 was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

On the motion of Ms. Kwan, Bill (No. M 221) intituled Residential Tenancy Act Amendment Act, 2008 was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

On the motion of Ms. Thorne, Bill (No. M 222) intituled Home Inspection Act, 2008 was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

Mr. Fraser presented a petition regarding antifreeze containing ethylene glycol.

The Hon. R. Thorpe (Minister of Small Business and Revenue and Minister Responsible for Regulatory Reform) tabled the BC Assessment Annual Report, 2007.

By leave, the Hon. J. van Dongen (Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General) tabled a letter from the Chairman of the BC Lottery Corporation.

Mr. Simons presented a petition regarding meat inspection regulations.

Mr. Simons presented a petition regarding a moratorium on ferry fare increases.

The Hon. C. Taylor (Minister of Finance) tabled the following documents:

Summary of Ministerial Accountability for Operating Expenses for the year ending March 31, 2008, Revised Schedule I, May 20, 2008; and

Statement of 2007/2008 Borrowings Pursuant to Section 56 of the Financial Administration Act, Schedule A and Schedule B.

The Hon. O. Ilich (Minister of Labour) tabled the Labour Relations Board Annual Report, 2007.

Mr. Fleming presented the Report of the Select Standing Committee on Public Accounts for the Fourth Session of the Thirty-eighth Parliament.

The Report was taken as read and received.

By leave of the House, Mr. Fleming moved that the Report be adopted.
