Mr. Howard presented the First Report of the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services: Report on the Budget 2012 Consultations for the Fourth Session of the Thirty-ninth Parliament.

The Report was read and received.

By leave of the House, Mr. Howard moved that the Report be adopted.

A debate arose.

The Hon. H. Bloy (Minister of State for Multiculturalism) made a ministerial statement regarding Multiculturalism Week in British Columbia.

Ms. Elmore made a statement.

The House proceeded to “Orders of the Day.”

The House resumed the adjourned debate on the motion for second reading of Bill (No. 7) intituled Regulatory Reporting Act.

The debate continued.

On the motion of Ms. Karagianis, the debate was adjourned to the next sitting of the House.

And then the House adjourned at 11.55 a.m.

Mr. D. Routley advised the House of the death of Barbara Wallace, a former Member of the Legislative Assembly.

The Hon. B. Barisoff (Speaker) tabled the following documents:

Elections BC Report of the Chief Electoral Officer on the 2011 HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) Referendum, June 13 – August 26, 2011.

On the motion of Ms. Thorne, Bill (No. Pr 401) intituled Gospel Riders Motorcycle Ministries (Corporate Restoration) Act, 2011 was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered referred to the Select Standing Committee on Parliamentary Reform, Ethical Conduct, Standing Orders and Private Bills.

Mr. Hansen presented the Report of the Special Committee to Appoint a Representative for Children and Youth for the Fourth Session of the Thirty-ninth Parliament.

The Report was taken as read and received.

That this House recommend to His Honour the Lieutenant Governor the appointment of Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond as a statutory officer of the Legislature, to exercise the powers and duties assigned to the Representative for Children and Youth for the province of British Columbia pursuant to the Representative for Children and Youth Act (SBC 2006 c. 29).
