2  Mr. Fleming moved —

Be it resolved that this House urge the Government of British Columbia to immediately withdraw from the 2010 Environmental Assessment Equivalency Agreement, signed between the B.C. Environmental Assessment Office and the National Energy Board, in order to take back provincial jurisdiction over the Enbridge Northern Gateway environmental review to ensure that the environmental, social and cultural interests of British Columbians are heard and protected. (Mr. Hawes adjourned the debate.)

3  Mr. Pimm moved —

Given the significant international potential for British Columbia’s natural gas and the new jobs and increased provincial revenue this demand will create, be it resolved that this House fully support this important sector and encourage its growth. (Mr. Krog adjourned the debate.)

8  Mr. Brar moved —

Be it resolved that this House urge the Government of British Columbia to ensure that all retailers are registered for the PST before April 1st, 2013; the day the province is scheduled to return to the PST. (Mr. Les adjourned the debate.)

Private members’ motions on notice

1  Ms. Mungall to move —

Be it resolved that this House act immediately to establish a needs-based, non-repayable student grant program as a way to allow young people to access advanced education across B.C.

4  Mr. Farnworth to move —

Be it resolved that this House recognizes wrestling as one of the original sports of the Olympics and as a sport that is engaged in by thousands of young people in British Columbia and across Canada, and that this House condemns the decision to eliminate wrestling as an Olympic sport by the IOC and further that this House demands the Canadian Olympic Committee to vigourously oppose this decision and to let both the Canadian Olympic Committee and the IOC know of this House’s displeasure with the decision to drop wrestling as an Olympic sport.

5  Ms. Trevena to move —

Be it resolved that this House acknowledges the unacceptably high numbers of Aboriginal children in government care and be it further resolved that this House agrees to work collaboratively to significantly lower those numbers.

6  Ms. Trevena to move —

Be it resolved that this House agrees that children should be protected from exploitation in the workplace.

7  Ms. Trevena to move —

Be it resolved that this House recognizes the stigma of mental illness and the particular difficulties faced by young people with mental health problems; be it further resolved that the province should provide the best supports possible.

9  Ms. Huntington to move —

Be it resolved that the Standing Orders of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia be amended as follows:

1 Section 60A be amended by striking out “Select Standing Committee” wherever it appears and substituting “Standing Committee”.

2 Section 68 be amended by deleting Standing Order 68 and substituting the following:

68 (1) At the commencement of the first Session of Parliament a Committee of Selection shall be appointed without notice, whose duty it shall be to prepare and report, with all convenient speed, lists of Members to compose the following Standing Committees of the House:

1. Aboriginal Affairs;

2. Children and Youth;

3. Crown Corporations;

4. Education;

5. Finance and Government Services;

6. Health;

7. Legislative Initiatives;

8. Parliamentary Reform, Ethical Conduct, Standing Orders and Private Bills;

9. Public Accounts.

List of Committees to be posted.

(2) The Clerk of the House shall post a list of the Standing Committees and Special Committees appointed during the Parliament.

3 Sections 69, 70, 71, 78A, 80, 105 be amended by striking out “Select Standing” wherever it appears and substituting “Standing”.
