The Hon. B. Barisoff (Speaker) tabled the Auditor General Report 12: Audit of the Legislative Assembly’s Financial Records: Update, 2012/13.

On the motion of Ms. Conroy, Bill (No. M 210) intituled Representative for Seniors Act, 2013 was introduced, read a first time, and Ordered to be placed on the Orders of the Day for second reading at the next sitting after today.

Order called for “Members’ Statements.”

Order called for “Oral Questions by Members.”

Mr. Fraser presented a petition regarding the Raven Underground Coal Project.

The Hon. M. MacDiarmid (Minister of Health) made a ministerial statement regarding Purple Day in support of epilepsy awareness.

Mr. Farnworth made a statement.

Mr. Hansen presented the Report of the Select Standing Committee on Parliamentary Reform, Ethical Conduct, Standing Orders and Private Bills, March 13, 2013.

The Report was taken as read and received.

By leave, Mr. Hansen moved that the Report be adopted.

Motion agreed to.

The House proceeded to “Orders of the Day.”

Bill (No. Pr 401) intituled The Hooper Family Foundation (Corporate Restoration) Act, 2013 was read a second time, and by leave, committed, reported complete without amendment, read a third time and passed.

Bill (No. Pr 402) intituled Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary Act was read a second time, and by leave, committed, reported complete without amendment, read a third time and passed.

Bill (No. 14) intituled Auditor General Amendment Act, 2013 was committed, reported complete with amendment, and by leave, read a third time and passed.

By leave, Hon. M. de Jong moved —

That a Special Committee be appointed to unanimously appoint an Acting Auditor General, pursuant to section 7 of the Auditor General Act, to exercise the powers and perform the duties of the Auditor General. The said Special Committee shall have the powers of a Select Standing Committee and in addition is empowered:

a) to appoint of their number, one or more subcommittees and to refer to such subcommittees any of the matters referred to the Committee;

b) to sit during a period in which the House is adjourned; and

c) to adjourn from place to place as may be convenient;

and the Chair shall report to the House as soon as possible, or deposit the original of its reports with the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly during a period of adjournment and upon resumption of the sittings of the House, present the report to the House, or the Speaker may lay the report before the House in a new Parliament, as the case may be.

The said Special Committee shall be composed of the following Members: Douglas Horne (Convener), Colin Hansen, John Rustad, Kathy Corrigan and Bruce Ralston.

Bill (No. 8) intituled Miscellaneous Statutes Amendment Act, 2013 was committed.

Section 23 of Bill (No. 8) passed, on division.

Section 33 of Bill (No. 8) passed, on division.

Bill (No. 8) reported complete with amendment, and by leave, read a third time and passed.

Bill (No. 7) intituled Emergency and Health Services Amendment Act, 2013 was committed.

The Committee rose, reported progress and asked leave to sit again.
