Lois Boone was appointed Deputy Chair of Government Caucus in the spring of 2000.

Previously, she served as Minister for Children and Families from February 1998 to February 2000 and as Deputy Premier from August 1999 to February 2000. She served as Minister of Transportation and Highways from June 1996 to February 1998 and as Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing from February to June 1996. From 1991 to 1993, Lois served as Minister of Government Services, as well as the Minister Responsible for the Premier's Advisory Council for the Disabled, the B.C. Buildings Corporation, the B.C. Systems Corporation and the B.C. Lottery Corporation.

Lois was first elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1986 to represent Prince George North. In the 1991 and 1996 general elections, she was elected MLA for Prince George-Mount Robson.

Born and educated in the Vancouver area, Lois earned her teaching certificate at Simon Fraser University in 1969. She taught school in Prince George and Williams Lake, ran a small business and worked as an administrative assistant for the provincial government.

Before entering politics, Lois served four years as a school trustee in School District 57 where, as vice-chair, she sat on the board's finance, education and special audit committees.

Lois has two adult children and resides in Prince George with her partner, Fred Bagg.
