Jim Doyle was appointed Minister of Municipal Affairs on November 1, 2000.

Mr. Doyle previously served as Minister of Forests from February 2000 to November 2000, as Minister of Municipal Affairs from July 1999 to February 2000, and previously as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Municipal Affairs.

He was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1991 and re-elected in 1996. He represents the riding of Columbia River-Revelstoke.

Born in County Down, Northern Ireland, Mr. Doyle immigrated to Canada in 1967 after working in Brisbane, Australia. Before being elected to the Legislature, he was employed by CP Rail for 24 years.

Mr. Doyle was elected as a municipal councillor in Golden in 1976 and was re-elected in 1978 and 1980. He served as mayor from 1981 to 1990. Other community involvements include the Lions Club, of which he was president in 1977 and 1978, and the Golden and District Hospital Board.

Jim and Judy Doyle have two sons, Adam and William.
