Colin was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Vancouver-Quilchena in May 1996. He has served as Opposition critic for Health in January 1999 and previously served as the Critic for Employment and Investment and Labour.

Colin Hansen is 48 years old and married with two children. He has lived in the Dunbar area of Vancouver-Quilchena since 1980.

Before being elected to the Provincial Legislature, Colin and his wife Laura were owner/managers of a successful small business which they established in 1988 and built to its present size with 18 employees. Prior to that, Colin was Vice-President, Finance and Administration, for the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada.

Other community organizations that Colin has been actively involved with include the Vancouver-Yokohama Sister City Society, in the capacity of Director, and the Vancouver Museum, serving as the Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Colin has also been active in BC politics for over 30 years and served as Legislative Assistant to former Liberal Leader Gordon Gibson from 1976 to 1979.
