Ted Nebbeling was a two-term mayor of Whistler before entering provincial politics. He also served as a municipal councillor from 1986-1990. He was the chair of the Sea to Sky Economic Development Commission. He was also a director of the Whistler Resort Association for five years.

Mr. Nebbeling was a member of both the Municipal Forestry Committee and the Tourism/Forestry Task Force. He is also involved in the Whistler Rotary Club and Rotary International.

Mr. Nebbeling was born in Holland. He emigrated to Canada in 1977 and  became a Canadian citizen in 1980. He moved to Whistler shortly after his arrival in Canada where he opened a variety of retail stores in the Whistler Village.
