April Sanders is a medical doctor specializing in family practice and sports medicine. Before entering medical school, April was a teacher. She taught elementary, secondary and post-secondary students.

She is involved with several community organizations. She was instrumental in establishing a response team for sexual assault victims in the North Okanagan. She has been a member of Women in Business and the Women's Connection and is an active member of Rotary.
