Erda Walsh was first appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transportation and Highways in March 2000 and was re-appointed in November 2000.

Previously, she served as the Vice Chair of Government Caucus from October 1997 to July 1999, and then as the Acting Government Caucus Chair from July 1999 to February 2000. From July 1999 until February 2000, she also served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier. As well, Erda served as Deputy Chair of the Committee of the Whole from March 1998 to February 2000.

Erda currently serves as Chair of the Select Standing Committee on Forests, Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources and is on several other select standing committees, as well as a number of special committees.

Prior to her election to the Legislative Assembly, Erda served on the Cranbrook City Council. She was employed as a paramedic for the B.C. Ambulance Service for over 15 years and was a Regional Vice President for the Ambulance Paramedics of B.C. In addition, she was a Commissioner with the B.C. Gaming Commission from 1994 to 1996. Erda also worked for the Cranbrook Regional Hospital for over 20 years, owned a small business and taught first aid courses at College of the Rockies.

Erda and Gerry Walsh reside in Cranbrook and have a grown son and daughter, one granddaughter and one grandson.
