George Abbott is a small business owner. He owns Abbott's Berry Farm, the oldest and largest berry farm in the Interior. He is a former political science instructor in the Department of Political Science at the Okanagan University College. He is also a B.C. historian.

He received his BA from the University of British Columbia and his Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Victoria.

Mr. Abbott has an extensive background in local and regional politics. He was the chair of the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District. He was also involved in amateur sports as a minor hockey coach.

George and Lesley Abbott have three children.
