Jeff Bray was elected in the 2001 provincial general election in the riding of Victoria-Beacon Hill. Jeff currently serves as Chair of the Government Caucus Committee on Communities and Safety. He is also a member of three Legislative Select Standing Committees: Health; Legislative Initiatives; and Parliamentary Reform, Ethical Conduct, Standing Orders, and Private Bills. In addition, he serves on three Special Legislative Committees: the Citizens' Assembly on Electoral Reform (of which he is Deputy Chair); Legislative Review and the Review of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. He also sits with his colleagues on the Vancouver Island Coastal Caucus.

Previously, Jeff worked as an area manager for the Ministry of Social Development and Economic Security. While working as a financial assistance worker with the Ministry of Social Services and Housing in Vancouver from 1988 to 1992, Jeff earned his degree from the University of British Columbia in 1991. After graduation he continued his work with the ministry and from 1992 to 1995 Jeff served as a district supervisor. In 1995 he moved to Victoria and was promoted to the position of policy analyst, fulfilling that role until his promotion to manager.

A two-time medallist at the BC Winter Games, Jeff has also participated twice in the Canada Winter Games and won the bronze medal in badminton. Jeff has served as a board member for community sports organizations.

Born in 1964, Jeff and his wife Launa married in 1994. They have one child. An avid rugby player during his school years, Jeff has turned more to tennis, golf, and gardening in recent years.
