Elayne Brenzinger was first elected as the MLA for Surrey-Whalley in the general provincial election in 2001. Elayne currently serves on the legislative Select Standing Committee on Health and the Special Committee on the Citizens' Assembly on Electoral Reform.

Previously Elayne was a member of the Caucus Health Committee, Asian Economic Development Committee, Leaky Condo Committee, Select Standing Committee on Education, which toured the province consulting with citizens, parent, teachers and educators concerned.

Before becoming an MLA, Elayne was the Executive Director for the Surrey Association for Early Childhood Education (SAECE), a non-profit society that provides integrated preschool services to Surrey children with or without special needs. In 1991, Elayne joined the SAECE board of directors and in 1996 became the executive director.

Prior to moving to BC in 1981, Elayne graduated from Seneca College and then attended York University towards a degree in Business Administration continuing at Simon Fraser University .

Elayne worked for Manulife's Toronto head office as a Business Systems Analyst and for Xerox of Canada, as a System Coordinator on a Project Team for a "state of the art "major implementation.

From 1981 to 1991, Elayne ran two home-based businesses, manufacturing children's clothes and computer systems consulting, while raising three children and pursuing her post-secondary education at Simon Fraser University .

Elayne's community involvement includes: Director of the BC Association of Executive Directors; BC Association for Child Development Centres and Rehabilitation member; Surrey Chamber of Commerce member; and a member of the Parents' Advisory Executive Committee.

Born in 1951 in Scotland , Elayne married Leo in 1981; they have three children. Elayne enjoys skiing, boating, tennis, camping, and traveling.
