As the MLA for Yale-Lillooet, David Chutter was first elected in the general provincial election in 2001. Dave currently serves on the Government Caucus Committee on Natural Resources, MLA Human/Wildlife Conflict Policy Review Committee, the Mining Task Force, Small Scale Salvage Committee and the Olympic Live Sites Committee. He is also chair of the Committee of Development of the Provincial Noxious Weed Strategy and is a member of the Legislative Select Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs.
Before becoming an MLA, Dave worked on his ranch and is still the principal owner of Chutter Ranch Limited, an 800 head beef cattle ranch producing and marketing brand name natural beef, alfalfa hay and ginseng on 3,500 deeded acres and about 12,000 acres of crown permit grazing land. Dave studied industrial engineering at the University of Toronto, earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Economics) from the University of British Columbia in 1977, and received professional agrologist status in 1980. Dave and his parents purchased the ranch in 1977 and he has been the manager since that time.
