Judith Reid was first elected in a 1998 byelection to represent the riding of Parksville-Qualicum and was re-elected in 2001 in the Nanaimo-Parksville riding. She served as Minister of Transportation from June 2001 until January 2004.

Ms. Reid is known as a woman with entrepreneurial spirit, sound business savvy, boundless energy, a strong sense of community and a commitment to serve British Columbians.

She is a successful, innovative and hard-working businesswoman, and over the years, has become involved in several business ventures, the latest one as a pioneer and developer of a successful shellfish farm on Vancouver Island .

A strong proponent of life-long learning, Judith has taken university, college and business courses as she discovered she needed to learn a new skill or meet a new challenge. She also home-schooled her children for some of their school years.

An environmental activist, Ms. Reid has worked diligently to protect water quality. She served on the executive of the B.C. Shellfish Growers Association, most recently as vice-president.

Judith has four sons and four grandchildren.
